Sunday Sonnet - Valiant Defeat

Every Sunday, we'll hit you with a recap of the Gophers football game in the form of a sonnet. Here's the first installment:

The booze was smooth; the beer was cold as ice,
At Senser’s bar, we watched the Gophers play.
Gray fumbled once, it did not happen twice,
And Hacksaw fifty one did Trojans slay.
Bob Woods’ first half gave Barkley too much steam,
Though in the second half, their pride was cropped.
‘Twas close, but no cigar for Goldy’s team,
We fought them hard and Tailback U was stopped.
A moral victory is still a loss,
We’ll watch the film and make improvements soon.
In Kill’s first game, he showed why he’s the boss,
And gingerballs Shortell made cougars swoon.
The story of the game was we got beat,
But pride is found in valiant defeat.
